Meet the Governors

The Nursery School has a Board of Governors whose job it is to make sure the Nursery School is managed appropriately.  The governors meet regularly throughout the year. Their roles include:

  • Developing policies
  • Interviewing and appointing staff
  • Overseeing the School Improvement Plan
  • Ensuring that funds are well spent
  • Being a critical friend of the Nursery School

Members of the Governing Body represent various parts of the community and have a wide range of skills, if you are interested in being a Governor please speak with us.

Governing Board Roles and Interests

Emma Rettig

Chair

I joined the Governors as Co-Chair in May 2019. I work in Human Resources and my professional body encourages its members to volunteer through an organisation called Inspiring Governance. I was keen to get involved as I strongly believe that Early Years Education is key to a child’s long term success and I was looking for ways to give back to the community. I hope that my professional experience can help the governing body and Centre to continue to maintain the excellent high standards. I live in Glossop with my husband and when I’m not working or volunteering I can generally be found on the fells with my dog.

Zara Rowbottom

Vice Chair

I started as a Parent Governor earlier this year (2021) and was recently elected as Vice Chair. I have worked in nursery settings since leaving school and I come from a big family so children have always been a massive part of my life. I have a 3 year old son who attends Gamesley Early Excellence Centre which is one of the many reasons I wanted to get involved. I’m hoping my parent perspective, skills and knowledge will help me ensure the nursery is running to high standards so that we can give the best quality of early education to the children.

Rhoda Badge

I have been a governor for approximately 12 years now, I first became a governor when my youngest child was in nursery. Both my children attended the nursery and I was keen to get involved and help out where I could. I am a speech and language therapist, and hope that my skills can contribute to the centre, whilst keeping me up to date with nursery education.

John Pasiecznik

Clerk to the Governors

I spent over 30 years working for local councils. I have always had an interest in education and am delighted to be Clerk to the Governors. I have lived in Hadfield for over 25 years, am married to Pat, a retired teacher, with three grown-up daughters two of whom are teachers.

Beth Evans

Co-Opted Governor

I started working at Gamesley Early Excellence Centre February 2022. I quickly released how much I wanted to make a difference to the children’s lives. I am very passionate about the Nursery and wanting to make positive changes. This is my first role as a governor, I have 2 children myself and know how important the Early Years are.
